The crickets called and the tree frogs cried and the stars were the only light
Every time without fail I’d get the chills even though it’s warm as hell
Honeysuckle blossom and dew on the grass, didn’t know the future would so soon be my past

Once again there I was – a back yard somewhere, just me and my buzz
Smokin’ cigarettes and telling lies, the night was warm and the stars were bright
Seemed like summer would last forever some times it’d feel like I’d died and gone to heaven
Innocence lost and a good time had no concept of a whole world gone mad
